Hebrews 9:1–12 exposes the inadequacy of religion to cleanse the guilty conscience, showing that the old covenant could regulate outward worship but could never perfect the worshiper within. But Christ entered the greater and more perfect sanctuary, not with the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, securing eternal redemption once for all. Our hope is not found in trying harder, cleaning ourselves up, or trusting our religious performance, but in Jesus Christ, our perfect Priest and sufficient Savior.
